Explain the change:
The sources show that there is a huge change in the lives of the people before and during the Japanese Occupation. Firstly, before the Japanese Occupation in the 1930s , the people of Singapore had their own currency to represent their country , but during the Japanese Occupation , they were all being forced by the Japanese government to use the Japanese currency know as 'banana notes' as they look like banana trees , and if they rebel against Japanese soldiers by not using the notes given , they might have a high chance of getting beheaded or killed. Secondly , before the Japanese Occupation in the 1930s , people who are involved in trading goods tend to have more freedom by going to many different places and carry out their tradings. But immediately during the Japanese Occupation , people had lost their freedom as they were disrupted and also forced to surrender under the accuse of the Japanese soldiers.

The sources show some changes to the people living in Singapore in terms of the pricing of the food. Before the Japanese Occupation food were affordable for the locals . Whereas , during the Japanese Occupation the locals had to suffer from malnutrition as there was an inflation in food prices.

There was a change. Even though the children still go to school , they have to learn a new language which is the Japanese language.
Summary:
There are some changes before and during the Japanese Occupation. However , some aspects still remained the same. The changes were made in the economy and recreation. For example , looking at the economy it has changed from Singapore's currency to the Japanese 'banana leaves' , printed with inferior quality. In the recreation aspect , pricing of food were affordable before the Japanese Occupation but during the Japanese Occupation there was an inflation in the pricing of food causing people living in Singapore to suffer from malnutrition. As for the education aspect there was a slight change as even though the children attend school , they have to learn a new language which is Japanese. The aspect that remained the same was the culture. For example , looking at the culture it shows no change in the lives of the people as they still have to respect their rulers before and during the Japanese Occupation. In conclusion , even though some aspects have changed , some still remain the same.
